Getting to college starts somewhere, and for me, it started junior year of high school when came to colleges and where I planned to look for me based on major, what I want to accomplish and what campus I enjoyed. I looked at three other colleges: Otterbein, Ohio University, and Ohio Wesleyan University. I knew I wanted to major in Communications and Public Relations, so I began there. Otterbein’s program to me seemed to be out of date for me, Ohio University, for me was too big, and Ohio Wesleyan was a close second. I chose ONU for many different reasons. The first reason being the great program of Public Relations. I wanted to be a part of the action, and I wanted to make my mark. The second reason was the amazing campus. Hello, my name is Alyson Hoffman! I am from Marion, Ohio. I am a freshman at Ohio Northern University. I am majoring in Public Relations and Communications!   I have an identical twin sister, named Andrea. She also attends Ohio Northern University. There are many activities that I love to participate in or watch. The list includes: running, singing, watching many different sports, volunteering, and public speaking. I enjoy the little things in life; whether it's a sunset or quality time spent with family and friends, for me, I cherish all the little things. Really between 2000 and 2019, many different applications and websites were created under the parachute that we call social media. When I was nine, Instagram was created. Shy of two years later, Snapchat stepped into the scene of social media. In my research of social media, the Google definition is “websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.” That definition helps to see the whole overall goal of why social media is critical in many different aspects of everyday life. If I could create a description for social media, I would describe it as, “ An open form of technology that attracts many different people all intending to share content, express themselves and market themselves on many different platforms.” I enjoy all of the platforms for their individuality.
