How Do You Consume News?

There are many ways to catch up on the news especially if you have a busy day and you are on the go. After researching, here are a few you can try out. Some are ones I have learned from professors while others come from an article entitled 9 Easy Ways To Keep Up With Current Events As A Student. In the article they mention, Podcasts saying, “ Yes, we’d all prefer to listen to fun podcasts like  My Favorite Murder , but current events podcasts can be an excellent way to keep up to date with the news if you’re short on time. The main benefit of podcasts is that you can listen on the go. This means you can take a listen to a quick podcast on a walk between lectures and come back super informed about current events. So where can you find these news podcasts? Most podcast-streaming platforms will have a ‘news’ section where you can view the most popular current events podcasts. Here, you’ll find daily or weekly news podcasts that give you a quick update of everything ...

Happy Internship Season

October is early to be on the hunt for internships for summer 2022 but I have begun looking. Recently I added a Marketing major, and for that major, I need a Marketing internship credit so this summer I am looking for a Marketing internship specifically. Starting early will give me the opportunity to get my name out there and in many different pools and see what sticks. This is my second time looking for internships. I began my search for summer 2021 in January 2021 and accepted my internship in February so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get an even earlier start on the search process.             One of my goals when doing internships is to try out all the areas I can and see what I like and what sparks my interest. My first internship was with Fahlgren Mortine an integrated communications company. This internship was with a firm, and I had the opportunity to work on over 23 clients in my short three months. Through my inte...

Snapchat comes to a screeching halt

Wednesday,  October 13  2021, every user of Snapchat, the social media app, woke up to the platform not working. Users complained they were unable to send or receive photos or texts. In one day, their stock went down 0.70. The Snapchat Support posted on Twitter to notify the audience, saying, "We're aware that some Snap chatters are having issues using the app right now - hang tight, we're looking into it!" Later the same Twitter account tweeted, "The issue has been fixed! If you're still having trouble, please let us know. Happy Snapping!"   With Snapchat down, this adds to the list of social media that have been having issues within the last two weeks. Facebook, Instagram and What's app had an issue where users were unable to post on their feed or story and the platforms were not updating for users.    In my marketing class, we were discussing how companies heavily rely on social media marketing and when these platforms crash, it can lead t...

Scheduling for Spring

Howdy blog! It has been an exciting semester so far. I have completed almost all my midterms (one more left in my operations management class) and have gotten excellent grades and enjoyed the material.   Now is the time to look at schedules and classes offered for the spring semester. While looking at how many courses I have left to take for my last three semesters of college ( only three …. . that was surreal to type out), I realized I need to add a few more classes to meet the minimum requirement of courses per semester. For reference, at this current moment, I am a double major in communications and public relations with minors in marketing and social media. After thinking about what I could move around and realizing I have really enjoyed the marketing classes I have taken and am currently in, I have decided to bump my marketing minor to a major and add a leadership minor. So then, I would be a triple major in communications, public relations and marketing with min...
