Wow! The Buckeyes lost. For a buckeye fan, this hit hard. So this blog post we will be doing a breakdown of the game and more information on the rivalry. For starters, in my personal opinion, I think Ohio State played poorly. They did not come out of the gate strong and it could have been because they were in Ann Arbor and they could have been a little full of themselves expecting to win. Also the weather being 29 degrees and snowing was not helpful. When looking at commentators review of the game I found this article from CBS Sports and they say,
“ This
was a dominant Michigan performance: It
wasn't a case of Michigan catching a break or two that decided the game or Ohio
State having a bad day. Michigan was the better team from the jump and never
took its foot off the gas. Every time Ohio State seemed to get a grip of the
game, Michigan answered. Every time Ohio State needed a stop on defense, the
Wolverines relied on their offensive line and running backs to keep the game
alive. It was remarkable how often the Wolverines were able just to turn around
and hand the ball to Haskins or Blake Corum to keep moving the chains and they
delivered seemingly every single time.”
I could not agree with the above more Michigan
was a really good team and were able to keep the heat on Ohio State and
ultimately carry that winning flame all the way to the end.
Not
only does OSU and Michigan fans watch the game in an article written by Andrew
Holleran he says this about the official ratings, “The overnight TV ratings are out for the annual rivalry
game and they are big. “Early numbers suggest that Ohio State-Michigan could
end up with 14-15 million viewers,” John Ourand tweeted. “The game’s metered
market rating came in at a 9.1. By comparison, the Michigan-Michigan State game
had a metered market rating 5.4 and it ended up as the most-watched game all
season.”
With a big rivalry these
numbers shock me a little bit as I do not watch football if it is not a team I
root for so I would think it would be just OSU Michigan fans watching but it
seems like many still watch even if they are die hard fans of the teams.
What do you think about the
Ohio State game? Do you watch other sports teams you are not fans for?
